Kuepfer Vineyards is looking for a name for our first vintage and for our winery!
A good wine/winery name might reflect the people who grow the wine — their heritage or the struggle and effort they’ve put into grape growing.
The people… In our case we are an urban family with a country dream. We’ve bootstrapped our way to produce our first wine, not without financial and personal risk. It is quite a struggle to grow grapes. I came up with “Invictus Agricola” which means invincible farmer in Latin, which I continue to think is a super name but no one else seems to like. In terms of the risk and the attitude towards taking on this challenge, names like “Debonaire”, “Fortitude”, or “Cavalier” might be appropriate. Although we do live in Toronto, and have for many years, I have a farming heritage (both Amish and Mennonite). We have three young girls we think are beautiful. Our dream is to provide them with a country lifestyle. A couple of winery names that we’ve thought of that reflect the struggle for a dream and who we are include things like “Kep’s Folly” and “Trois Soeurs”.
We’re still trying to find that perfect name … send me your ideas!
